Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James is expected to be sidelined for at least one to two weeks due to a groin strain; sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Sunday. The 40-year-old star will undergo further evaluation once the injury settles down, but the Lakers plan to proceed cautiously, given their position as the third seed in the Western Conference.
James exited Saturday’s game against the Boston Celtics midway through the fourth quarter and did not return. Despite downplaying the issue postgame and calling it “not much concern,” the Lakers are bracing for a short-term absence.
This isn’t James’ first groin issue—he missed 17 games in the 2018-19 season with a similar injury.
