Travis Scott Celebrates Kanye West’s Influence: ‘That Guy Took Me In’

The relationship between Travis Scott and Kanye West could be considered shaky, but the UTOPIA rapper doesn’t deny the influence the Chicago legend has had on him.

In a conversation with Complex, Travis Scott praised Ye as his “kid’s uncle,” noting their shared parenting experience with the Kardashian-Jenner family.

“That guy took me in when I was young, when I was like 19,” Scott said. “He taught me a lot about music. And not even just ‘taught’ me, but he allowed me to experience the creation of music.

“To create music with him, it’s what helped me grow, making a lot of beats. Whether it’s writing and collabing on music and film or clothes or whatever the f–k it is, just constantly learning.”

Earlier this year, while Ye was getting off a run of antisemitic tweets and attacks on Dave Chappelle, the late Virgil Abloh, and more, Scott made one simple move: clicking that unfollow button. That alone has the Internet in a frenzy, and Ye responded.
