When will it stop, seriously.
On the newest episode of ‘Police do the most fu*&ed up things’ we have a New York city police officer violently slamming a woman to the ground, but in this case it’s not just any woman, in this case Sandra Amezquita who happens to be 6 months (and very visibly pregnant). I mean seriously, IN WHAT WORLD can any human being – let alone one who’s entire job description and livelihood revolves around helping people and serving the public – think that this is acceptable behavior under ANY circumstance.
The incident occurred at 2:15 am in Sunset Park, Brooklyn when police reportedly were in the process of arresting Amezquita’s 17 year old son Johan (who’s severely bruised face can be seen here) for possession of a knife when his father Ronel Lemos got involved with the police, eventually Amezquit did as well which is what led to the incredibly agressive maneuver. Following the slamming of Lemos, The Hulk the same officer then shoves another woman who also tumbles to the ground.
Ronel Lemos, who was arrested following the incident under the charge of assaulting a police officer said
“The first thing I thought was they killed my baby and they’re going to kill my wife,” Lemos, 50, told the Daily News on Tuesday.
As far as Amezquit and the unborn child’s condition according to the Daily News, she suffered vaginal bleeding and her belly and arm are still bearing bruises. Speaking through an interpreter she told NYD
“I was afraid something happened to my baby. I am still afraid that something is wrong,” she said, referring to the abdominal pain that persists.
The officer who hails from the 72nd precinct has been suspended and is under investigation from the NYPD Internal Affairs division, the second officer from that division in a week.
