An Atlanta mother is under suicide watch today after she accidentally shot and killed her son while protecting her children from bullies. According to Madame Noire, 33-year old Latoya Tilson got a gun and accidentally shot her 15-year old son, Pierre Tilson when he came home and complained that people were outside trying to fight his two sisters.
Tilson’s daughter, Lashae Tilson, says a group of kids were taunting she and her younger sister (Coco Tilson) because they believed that the two were laughing at a group of their friends. Tilson’s son Pierre was protecting his sisters when they got home and told their mother what happened. Latoya got her .25 caliber firearm and proceeded to go outside to break up the crowd.
As Latoya tried to break up the crowd, they jumped her, and according to Lashae, Pierre was trying to break up the brawl when her mother reached for her gun and accidentally shot Pierre in the back of the head. Another teenager was hit in the buttocks.
Pierre died three days later in the hospital. Tilson has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault, reckless conduct, cruelty to children, use of a firearm during the commission of a felony, violation of the Family Violence Act, and carrying a concealed weapon.
