The Spurs Got Drunk After Their Game 7 Loss, and Tim Duncan Played Hero

Timmy, where is thy shirt?

Greg Popovich and his San Antonio Spurs had everyone fooled. They spent much of the regular season in the bottom half of the Western Conference’s top 8, and fans and critics alike got to thinking that maybe their age was finally catching up to them. Then, the All-Star break was over, and the Spurs suddenly looked like the team that dismantled the defending champion Miami Heat in 5 games in last year’s NBA Finals. It was like a season of House of Cards. The Spurs managed to put themselves in a position to clinch the 2nd seed in the conference on the last day of the regular season, and though they still fell to 7th, it was a testament that in April, they weren’t going to be f*****g around.

Unfortunately, that attitude only lasted 3 games, as the Clippers ousted the defending champs in a scintillating Game 7 on Saturday, highlighted by Chris Paul, hobbling on one leg, heaving up a last-second floater over the outstretched hand of Tim Duncan for the game-winner. It was a devastating way to lose the game, and the Spurs had just the right remedy for that. Drink up!

TMZ caught up with a beleaguered, but drunk, Spurs squad as they exited Project Club L.A. following their Game 7 loss on Saturday, and of course, Tim Duncan was there, playing the hero to a very, very faded Aron Baynes. To add insult to injury, if you remember, it was Baynes that caught the wrath of Blake Griffin 3 times in Game 1. Watch the video above.
