Los Angeles Lakers players Nick Young and Jordan Clarkson found themselves in a very sticky situation on Monday (March 21) after the pair were accused of sexually harassing two women the night before. According to ESPN, Alexis Jones, an activist who founded I AM THAT GIRL, an organization to help women raise standards on how to “treat themselves, each other, and the world,” claims she and her 68-year-old mother were harassed by the pro athletes at a Los Angeles intersection.
Jones says that the incident occurred in the late evening between La Brea and Melrose Ave when a Jeep carrying four men pulled alongside their car and began making lewd gestures towards them. She snapped pictures of the men in the car and posted the photos on her Instagram page. Two of them in the photos were Young and Clarkson.
On Monday morning, Jones received a phone call from Lakers rep John Black, apologizing for the actions of the two men and even offered to have her speak to the team’s roster about her program, “ProtectHer,” which highlights sexual abuse in sports. She turned down the offer, opting to use this as a learning experience for the men. “I don’t want to crucify them. I want to use it as an opportunity to change behavior.” For what its worth, Nick Young not only denied the claims, but sent out a tweet making light of the situation. A tweet that was later deleted.
