Footlocker and ASICS Announce Film Contest

Runners and filmmakers wanted. Foot Locker, Inc. snd ASICS America Corporation are hosting the second-annual Real Lives. Real Runners. competition with MOFILM, preceding the 2016 TCS New York City Marathon.

The sports retailer and brand look for genuineness documented in both a two-minute video and 60-second clip buy filmmakers. They want to know real runners behind the race and behind their sneakers. The winning two-minute video will appear on ESPN2 during the marathon’s broadcast on Sunday, November 6, and be awarded cash from MOFILM.

This year’s contest, however, comes with a twist, Stacy Cunningham of Footlocker said. “This year, we’re raising the bar and challenging filmmakers to get creative, inject a new wave of freshness into their projects and develop their own interpretation of what ‘Real Lives. Real Runners.’ truly means to them and the runners they document.”

Videographers have a little over a month to create the two videos before the deadline, Tuesday, September 6. Foot Locker and ASICS will narrow down the competition to five finalists and upload the 60-second clips to Foot Locker’s YouTube page and social media. The public will then chose which three filmmakers will move on to a judging panel at an exclusive New York City event. And one will win from there.

ASICS America executive Roeya Vaugha said, “Storytelling creates such a powerful human connection, and we look forward to another year of authentic and compelling films that will touch and inspire all of us.”
