Scott Pruitt, Environmental Protection Agency Administrator, has resigned in light of multiple ethics scandal. President Trump tweets out his acceptance of resignation while commending him for his efforts.
NBC reports while there have been scandals surrounding Pruitt, Trump defended the EPA head. White House Spokesman Hogan Gidley referred to scandal reports as “troublesome.” Questions facing Pruitt’s tenure included spending in regards to costs for spending and security along with improper use of government resources.

During his tenure, Pruitt has acted to replace environmental regulations that were sought to be amended by lobbyists and in turn, continued to support the burning of fossil fuels which impact climates.
There is also controversy surrounding the appointment of Andrew Wheeler from deputy administrator due to his employment being in violation of an executive order from Trump to not allow former lobbyists.
