After the news hit the web that the royal family, Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, gave birth to their new bundle of joy- the world reacted with oohs and aah to Baby Archie. At least most of the world… there were others who saw this as an opportunity to express their deep seeded racist bigotry and hate. Such is the case as BBC radio broadcaster Danny Baker.

According to CNN, the British personality from the show BBC Radio 5 Live shot out a racist tweet about the new baby. He tweeted out a black and white picture of a man and a woman holding hands with a chimpanzee in a suit and a top hat. The caption: “Royal baby leaves hospital.”

Though Baker, after realizing how ridiculously evil and stupid that was, he deleted the tweet and offered his apology. In his mind, this was a “gag” that he had “whipped” up.  He did not realize the racial inference connected to the image. Noting that his “mind (is) not diseased,” he questioned how others might have gotten anything but a chuckle from his gag. He wrote in his apology, “Supposed to be a joke about Royals vs circus animals in posh clothes but interpreted as about monkeys & race, so rightly deleted. Royal watching not my forte.” He added later that he made an “enormous mistake.”

His apology could not stop him from getting fired.

A spokesperson from the BBC stated about his firing, “This was a serious error of judgment and goes against the values we as a station aim to embody. Danny’s a brilliant broadcast, but will no longer be presenting a weekly show with us.”

It is to note that the radio station did not say that he would not be working with them at all. Even with that window, leaving the door not close indefinitely, he blasted BBC saying that they threw him under the bus (he said literally, but uhh… that no one threw you under a bus bozo!).

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex could not be any more proud of their new bambino, Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. The birth of this child is the bridge between to cultures and communities that is monumental for British society: He is the first biracial child in the royal family.

The American born Duchess Meghan has been the focal point of racist attacks on social media since the couple became public with their relationship. However, since the world found out about her pregnancy the wackos have come out of the digital woodwork, flooding all social media accounts connected with them with racist and abusive remarks. The Kensington Palace staff has worked diligently to wipe clean these official accounts and the royal household has issued official guidelines on how to engage with those who leave comments.
