Cam’ron is mourning the loss of his close friend Young Scooter, revealing that the tragic news left him in tears.
During the latest episode of his sports talk show, It Is What It Is, the Harlem rap legend took a moment to honor the late Atlanta rapper and express his heartbreak.
“Big rest in peace to my bro Young Scooter, man. That’s my n****, man,” Cam said, visibly emotional. “That s*** had me in tears this past weekend. I love that n****, man. Just wanna give a rest in peace to Young Scooter.”
The 39-year-old rapper, whose real name was Kenneth Bailey, passed away over the weekend in what authorities are now calling a freak accident. According to an official autopsy, Scooter sustained a fatal injury to his leg while attempting to jump a fence as he fled from police.
“Mr. Bailey sustained a penetrating injury of his right thigh that created marked blood loss,” the report stated. “This injury was not a gunshot wound.”
The findings put an end to conspiracy theories circulating online, which suggested that police had fatally shot him. However, officials have since confirmed that the entire police response stemmed from a hoax 911 call—one that has now led to an arrest.
On April 1, Atlanta police took Demetria Spence, better known as Baddies reality star Demi Blanco, into custody. She has been charged with transmitting a false public alarm, which authorities say directly resulted in serious bodily harm and Scooter’s untimely death.
As friends, family, and fans continue to process the loss, Cam’ron’s emotional tribute reminds them of Scooter’s impact on those around him. His legacy in Atlanta’s rap scene won’t be forgotten.
