Too $hort is back in full player form with his new single “Still Mackin,” out now via EMPIRE. The Bay Area icon slides effortlessly over a synth-heavy, bass-laced “Oakland beat,” spitting game with his signature “B**tch” ad-lib and the same confidence that’s made him a legend since 1985.
In the track, he brushes off critics with calm swagger, rapping, “They say I got a foul mouth, I’m too controversial… I am who I am, no actin’ and no rehearsal.” “Still Mackin” sets the tone for his upcoming project SIR TOO $HORT, VOL. 1 (FREAKY TALES), arriving April 18 with features from Snoop Dogg, Larry June, King George and more, plus production by Ant Banks and Jazze Pha.
Outside the booth, Too $hort is also making noise in Hollywood. He executive produced and narrated Freaky Tales, a new film inspired by his classic track of the same name. Released April 4 and shot in Oakland, the movie weaves together four wild stories from 1987 and features a star-studded cast including Pedro Pascal, Normani, Jay Ellis, and the late Angus Cloud.
