The Wu has made their selection for mayor of New York City, and that is Zohran Mamdani. The rising political star attended a Wu-Tang Clan concert at Madison Square Garden, leading to a conversation with RZA about the affordability of specific neighborhoods.
“I think a big part of it is to make Brownsville a place that you don’t have to leave,” said Mamdani. “There are too many people for whom stability, space, raising a family, you can only do it outside of New York City. The whole campaign that we ran on is about ‘How do we make the most expensive city in the United States of America affordable?’”

Could the next mayor of New York City be a former rapper? Zohran Mamdani, a 33-year-old Democratic Socialist who is leading in the polls, once had bars.
Mamdani was once known as Young Cardamom and Mr. Cardamom. Providing further context, actress Madhur Jaffrey told The New York Times that Mamdani started rapping in the late 2000s while running for school elections. According to The New York Times, Mamdani would then form a rap duo with his friend Abdul Bar Hussein. As a unit, they dropped a six-track EP titled Sidda Mukyaalo.
