The first lady of Wiz Khalifa’s Taylor Gang, Lola Monroe, is back in the studio, preparing for her next set of music, already titled Lipstick & Pistols. It was originally scheduled for an earlier release, but due to the birth of her first born Brixton with rapper King Los, Monroe took some time off to enjoy her new family life.
Since back on her music grind, Lipstick & Pistols succeeds her last mixtape 2010’s Batteries Not Included, and she made an appearance on Wiz Khalifa‘s O.N.I.F.C. LP late last year. In a recent interview, she revealed that “Everything I’ve done in my career, I’ve strategically done” as she did go on tour at four months pregnant.
Monroe also discussed the reality of the hip-hop game when it comes to women and friendships briefly, concluding that “It’s bullshit. It’s a much of bullshit in the industry, but that comes with the territory. You just got to know…not everybody’s your friend”.
While she admitted that sometimes the social scene can be phony, it’s safe to say she’s cool with Cassie, you she was recently seen partying with and who threw her a surprise baby shower, as well as Blac Chyna who posted a photo of Monroe and Brixton on her Instagram.
Too long one of hip-hop’s best kept secrets, Monroe’s got a distinctive flow and definite talent to make an imprint in the game as proven from her array of remixes of hot, hip-hop singles she nearly stiletto-ed all over such as A$AP Rocky’s “Goldie” and her show-stopping cut of Rick Ross’ “Stay Schemin’.”
