King James gets a little touchy with the royal couple.
The royal couple, Duke William and Duchess Kate of Cambridge stopped by the Barclays Center to much fan fare in order to watch their first ever NBA basketball game. The couple seemed to enjoy their time at game while they sat next to NBA legend Dikembe Mutombo, while also being greeted by American pop royalty JAY Z and Beyoncé. While the American media was fixated on LeBron James‘ “I Can’t Breathe” shirt, highlighting the death of Staten Island’s Eric Garner, the British media had their feathers ruffled over the breaking of royal protocol. Do not touch the royals.
As LeBron James posed for photo ops with the royal couple while the trio held up customized jerseys James had gifted to them, British eyes across the world were bothered to see King James place his hands on the shoulder of Duchess Kate. By the looks of the photos, the couple seemed to be bit amused by the awkwardness of the situation, while James unabashedly smiled at the cameras. Either James was unaware of the this longstanding protocol or simply ignored it, but it was the talk of the British media.
