Once the integral piece to the Detroit Pistons 2004 NBA Championship team, Richard Hamilton has decided to ditch his dreams of making a comeback in the league and hang up his sneaks. The swingman announced this morning on ESPN’s “His And Hers” Show that he will not return to the NBA.

Richard Hamilton stated:

“Early this year, I was looking forward to come back and was definitely looking for the right position and the right team for me to get an opportunity to win a championship,” Hamilton said. “Then I hurt my foot in October.

“So when I did that … I looked myself in the mirror and said, ‘hey, you know what, it might be my time. I got a lot of miles on my body.’ I think I just need to let it go.”

With Richard Hamilton officially leaving the league for good, it leaves Tyshaun Prince as the lone player from that 2004 championship team still competing in the league. Richard Hamilton will go down as one of the greatest players to ever put on a Detroit Pistons jersey, averaging double figures in 11 consecutive seasons.
