Hov gives us a taste of what’s in his headphones

It’s been a little over 2 months since Jay Z relaunched Tidal with the help of “co-owners” Nicki Minaj, Beyonce, Kanye West, J. Cole and others. Those two months and change have been, however, rocky. Media outlets galore have criticized Hov’s perceived “help the rich get richer” scheme, and more recently, his Tidal B-Sides Concert freestyle, in which he attributed the criticism to a race issue, but then posted a picture posing with an all-white Tidal staff. (It should be noted that the picture was taken at the Norway office. One could walk the streets of Norway daily for a week straight and not come across a Black person).

Regardless, Hov isn’t quitting, and his career’s track record is enough of an indicator that it would be in our (the media’s) best interest to not count him out, no matter how many runs he’s down in the 9th inning. B-Sides was, for all intents and purposes, a success, so what’s next? Jay’s first Tidal playlist.

The Roc CEO’s 19-track playlist comes courtesy of superstars (Drake, Nicki Minaj), young, genre-bending upstarts (Post Malone, Lion Babe), and some of Atlanta’s hottest (Young Thug, Rich Homie Quan). Check it out below, and you can listen to it here. If you have Tidal, of course.
