Mr. G’s Entertainment Center in chicago’s South Side was the host venue for 13 year-old rapper Lil Mouse‘s album release party, also performing was King Samson. Authorities say that around 1:15am a fight broke out between three individuals igniting a shoot out between the three of them.
Several victims arrived at Advocate Christ Medical Center. Amongst those was a teenage girl, the rest of the victims were in their 20’s and 30’s. Police reported that hundreds of people were thrown off by the altercation which was sparked by a chair being thrown. All seven victims are in stable condition in three separate Chicago hospitals.
Police reports allude to several officers on scene heard people shouting “they’re shooting!” followed by more gun shots. The scene was described as pure chaos in and out of the space. They concluded that the shooting was gang related although the motives are not clear as to why the incident started in the first place.
Mr. G’s Supper Club and Entertainment Center released this statement on behalf of their management:
“Our establishment is deeply saddened concerning the senseless incident which initiated on the exterior of our building after hours. We ask that the general public join us in praying for the victims of this cowardly act. We also have pledged our full and complete cooperation with the Chicago Police Department in its investigation of this matter.”
No arrest have been made yet.
This incident shines light on the recurring issues that cast a dark cloud over Chicago’s youth. Lil Mouse’s video caught heat on Youtube last summer, receiving attention for boasting his persona loud and clear to everyone and anyone watching. With Chief Keef’s recent release from an Illinois juvenile detention center leaves some wondering what kind of message Chicago hip hop is giving to the masses.
