Ten Baseball Players Who Broke Our Hearts By Using Steroids

Ryan Braun, the 2011 NL MVP, was having a storied career. He was an All-Star, won multiple Silver Slugger Awards, helped to bring the Brewers back to the forefront of baseball, and in 2012 was the NL home run leader. It almost came crashing down on his head in 2011, when he tested positive for high levels of testosterone. He was able to avoid suspension on a technicality, but this year, he couldn’t avoid controversy.

Braun’s name was linked to the now infamous Biogenesis clinic. While most players are appealing their—soon to be announced—punishments, he has opted to not put up a fight. He was suspended for the rest of the season, which includes 65 games, as well as any playoff games the Brewers may play. Fans were quick to forgive him in 2011, but can he rely on their grace for a second time. It’s unclear at the moment; hopefully he can come back and still produce as well as before his departure.
