On Martin Luther King Day, a shocking photo of Dasha Zhukova, the editor-in-chief of Russia’s Garage magazine, began circulating.
The photo depicted Zhukova, a white woman, seated atop a chair that looked like a black woman with a belted waist and thighs, legs raised in the air in a sexually suggestive position.
Zhukova later apologized, saying that she made a “regrettable” decision to pose with the racially charged, insensitive, inappropriate piece of “art.” She further went on to reason Bjarne Melgaard, the creator of the controversial chair, intended for it to serve as “commentary on gender and racial politics.”
Her weak apology, which sounds like more of an attempt to quell public outcry than apologize for her actions–because she is still trying to tell you why she still thinks this is okay–wasn’t good enough for New York City resident Alexander Kargaltsev. Read his response after the jump.
