Public Enmy
Public Enemy’s Fear of a Black Planet was inspired by Dr. Frances Cress Welsing’s, Issis Papers. The album, like Welsing’s book, is based off Welsing’s theory of color, confrontation and racism.

The title track, “Fear of a Black Planet,” talks about interracial dating and white people’s fear of race mixing.  Also, on “Pollywanacraka,” Public Enemy disapproves of blacks that only want to date whites.

On the Ice Cube and Big Daddy Kane assisted, “Burn Hollywood, the politically conscience legends call out movie producers for casting black actors as maids, slaves and gangsters.  And, on the Black Panther Party inspired,“Power to the People,” PE encourages blacks to do for themselves.

Pubic Enemy’s militant-all black everything-attitude could teach Fear of a Black Planet in an African American psychology or Race and Ethnicity.
