No one’s head has been called for more often than Raymond Felton‘s–save Mike Woodson, but we’re talking about players–and today it became official that he will suit up for a team other than the New York Knicks in the 2014-2015 NBA season.
Along with former Defensive Player Of The Year Tyson Chandler, Raymond Felton was traded to Dallas for swingman point guard Jose Calderon and the defensive oriented Samuel Dalembert, both of whom were a part of the Mavericks’ starting 5 this past season, in which Dallas managed to secure an 8th seed in the NBA Playoffs and push the eventual NBA Champion San Antonio Spurs to 7 games in their first round series.
This comes at the end of a pretty tumultous season for the New York Knicks, who saw injury after injury, and locker room issue after locker room issue impede any substantial progress throughout the regular season, which ended in disappointing fashion, as the Knicks finished just a game back of the Atlanta Hawks for the final Eastern Conference playoff spot. Â Head coach Mike Woodson was subsequently fired, and Carmelo Anthony opted out of the final year of his contract to test free agency, and is currently being courted by four very viable and practical suitors, namely the Chicago Bulls and the Miami Heat.
We imagine this move only went through because newly minted coach Derek Fisher and Phil Jackson believe it will help convince Carmelo Anthony to re-sign with the Knicks, considering throughout the season it was the inconsistent play of both Chandler and Felton that plagued the ball club far too often.
