During the first few weeks of the of 2014 season, all-pro wideout Percy Harvin was abruptly traded from the Seattle Seahawks to the New York Jets. This came amidst rumors that Harvin was problematic in the locker room, with some publications claiming that he had punched former teammate Golden Tate in the face. Currently playing wide receiver for the Detroit Lions, Tate did confirm there was a skirmish between the two, but denied it got physical. Today, Tate finds himself in the middle of another tense situation.

In a piece he had published in The Cauldron, Tate refuted claims that he had an affair with the wife of former teammate and Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson. This comes after rumors were circulating that this may have been the cause for his departure from the defending Super Bowl champions and the catalyst for Wilsons divorce from his wife Ashton this past April.

Golden Tate:

I did not have an affair with Russell Wilson’s wife, nor did I have anything to do with his divorce. That is laughable for anyone who knows us. His ex-wife, Ashton, is still best friends with my girlfriend. Russell and I were good friends when I was in Seattle, on and off the field — he knows the rumors about me were unfounded, damaging to my reputation, and an attack on my character.
