The group’s debut album, which dropped just months after 50 Cent released Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ went onto move over 370,000 copies it’s first week. The album included such classic Unit records as “Poppin Them Thangs,” “My Buddy,” and the Joe-assisted “Wanna Get To Know Ya.” The critically-acclaimed The Black Album which is hailed as one of Jay-Z‘s best works, was released the same week as Beg For Mercy and many in the blog-o-sphere have gone on to compare the two albums over the last decade.
