Della Reese passed away Sunday night according to her family. The beloved singer and actress has been battling diabetes for years, and died in her California home.
She is best known for her role in Touched by an Angel as Tess alongside Roma Downey. She had other big roles in films like Harlem Nights and A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.

Reese also made history as the first Black woman to guest host The Tonight Show. She was also an accomplished gospel singer and became a minister in the 1980’s.
