Joe Jackson has been hospitalized in Las Vegas with stage four pancreatic cancer. The Daily Mail reports the 88-year-old father to music legends Michael and Janet Jackson has been suffering for months and a downturn in his health status was reported to the family but they were unable to visit him.
The report details that while he was at one pointed comforted by Katherine Jackson and other family members, they were temporarily banned from visitation. The ban was lifted this past Tuesday (June 19) after a family meeting and allowance from Charles Coupet, Joe Jackson’s manager, but that occurred after four days of not knowing what was going on with Joe. The denial of visitation was also extended to Janet Jackson. Katherine, his daughters Rebbie and Joh’Vonnie and granddaughter Yashi Brown were able to visit him on Tuesday.
“No one knew what was going on – we shouldn’t have to beg, plead, and argue to see our own father, especially at a time like this,” Jermaine Jackson shared with The Daily Mail. “We were not being told where he was and couldn’t get the full picture. Even from the doctor. My mother was worried sick.”
Jermaine also shared “he’s very very frail, he doesn’t have long. The family needs to be by his bedside – that’s our only intention in his final days.”
Daily Mail also reports the orders of no family visitation came from Joe Jackson himself, instructing that he did not want visitors or family members to be able to see him or what his medical records read. The Source will provide updated details on Jackson’s condition as they become available.
