After spending 59 years and nine days on the Billboard charts, Brenda Lee’s “Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree” has finally cracked the top three and top five spots on the Hot 100 chart, according to Billboard. This is the highest the song ever has been, despite the surge in popularity in 1990s during the Home Alone franchises success. She has always enjoyed that number one spot on the Holiday Charts and for good reason… that song is a jam.
Lee was 13 when she recorded the song that first charted on Dec. 13, 1960.
When asked by Billboard about Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” snatching that #1 spot on the Holiday 100 chart and pushing her “…Rockin'” to #2, Lee even at 75 answered mad competitively:
“She’s knocked me off [the top]. I wanna tell my folks, get out there, we gotta get ‘Rockin” back up there! [Laughs.] But I will say, you go Mariah! I love that song.”
We see you, Ms. Lee. Keeping it classy but definitely on her neck!
