According to the New York Post’s, Andrew Marchand, Romo has decided to stay with CBS after the network reportedly offered Romo $17 million per season.

Romo has been with CBS since 2017, starting just months after retiring from his 14-year career with the Dallas Cowboys. Romo’s previous salary at CBS was only about $4 million a year. The $17 million deal was inked in response to Disney, ESPN’s parent company, being able to begin bidding on Romo in March when Romo was eligible for free-agency. CBS thought that Disney would bid up to $20 million a year for Romo, however, ESPN disputed that saying that they would never come close offering Romo that amount of money.

According to The New York Post, the value of the deal is set to exceed $100 million. His new contract with CBS is set to be “significantly more than five years.”

This new contract makes the former Cowboys QB the highest-paid NFL analyst in history. Prior to Romo, John Madden held the title for the highest-paid NFL analyst. Madden received an $8 million per year contract with Fox back in 1993. Madden’s contract would be valued at $14 million when adjusted for today’s inflation.
