Growing up on the streets of Centretown, Hendi faced unforgettable circumstances, including mental illness and drug abuse. Instead of letting his future be defined by his struggles, Hendi faces the in his music, which often highlights personal struggle, heartbreak, and drug abuse.

For the past two years, Dead Hendrix has been working on his vocals. The culmination of his efforts can be heard in his new single. “It’s powerful,” adds Hendi. “I’ve really fallen into my sound.”

“Till We Die” continues Hendrix’s renowned style, with appearances from Sueco and Destroy Lonely. “It’s the next single on my album releasing this year called ‘Talk2TheDead,” shares the artist. “It’s a strong, strong song.”

“We go through a lot of stuff in life but we’re still going to be here. No matter what you’re going through, go through it with that power,” tells Hendrix of the message behind “Till We Die.” “The lyrics have that darkness that I always bring a little bit. The power in the song when you play it—you feel something right away.”

Dead Hendrix is no stranger to hard times. Recently, the artist lost his mother to cancer. “It motivated me to get more into music,” adds Hendrix. “She wouldn’t have wanted it any other way.”

These days, Dead Hendrix has found a renewed energy and connection to music. “It comes out in songs like ‘Till We Die,’” he adds.

Like many before it, the single was created during a drive—beat playing, Hendrix in a flow state, lyrics coming naturally. “I’m excited for people to hear it,” shares Hendi. “My team loved it. People close to me loved it. My live audiences loved it. It’s a crowd pleaser.”

Up next for Dead Hendrix are a few more singles, dropping soon. “They’re going to have some cool features,” teases the artist. “Some are names that people are going to be like, ‘oh, wow, Hendrix got him on?’ Some are artists I worked with in the past, too.” With a nod to Hendrix’s influence, the punk rap scene in Ottowa has been growing. “People are feeling it and catching on to it. They’re making their own music. That’s the most amazing thing,” he adds.
