Everybody is proclaiming GOAT status these days. Is the term, GOAT, that important? Well, Will Smith returned to his hip-hop roots with a Big Willy style and dropped a new freestyle. He’s kind of alluding to GOAT status in the bars.
It went down on Lyrical Lemonade titled “Lunch Break,” showcasing his lyrical skill and enduring influence in rap.
Over a hard-hitting beat, Smith confidently drew parallels to soccer superstars while making his case for rap excellence: “Hip Hop’s Messi, Neymar and Ronaldo / Goooal! Scored on these boys / I’ve won damn near every award on these boys / Sold-out movie theaters and even tours on these boys / Feelin’ like a mop, wipe the floor with these boys.”
Beyond the bold declarations, Smith also reflected on personal growth and perseverance. Addressing challenges he’s faced, including the 2022 Oscars incident, he rapped: “I be overcoming shit that y’all be having trouble with / Let ’em run they mouths, I mean really, that’s what come with this / They built a wall but I’m jumping it and loving it / They want me to be done with it, but I’m still havin’ fun with it.”
