Life comes at you fast
In the wake of the Sony leaks, and the mega media company’s decision to cancel the Christmas release of The Interview as they faced threats of 9/11-style attacks from hackers, a senior administration official spoke openly about President Obama‘s plans for retaliation.
“What we are looking for is a blocking action, something that would cripple their efforts to carry out attacks,” said one senior administration official to the Times, which would be part of a “proportional response” to the hackers actions over the past few weeks.
Well, it appears either Obama succeeded in convincing China to assist in his retaliation attempt–North Korea’s internet access runs through China–or Kim Jong-un-land is experiencing an incredibly coincidental nationwide outage. We aren’t very inclined to believe the latter. According to internet analyst Doug Madory, who made an appearance on Bloomberg News earlier today, described specifically what’s happening in North Korea.
The situation now is they are totally offline. I don’t know that someone is launching a cyber-attack against North Korea, but this isn’t normal for them. Usually they are up solid. It is kind of out of the ordinary. This is not like anything I’ve seen before.
There have not been any confirmed reports that Obama or his administration is behind North Korea’s current outage, but once it is confirmed the confirmed reason behind their loss of internet is revealed, we’ll have an update for you.
