After all the controversy over artist M.I.A. being taken off as the headlining performer for Afropunk London, it looks like the festival will be adding an epic new performer to the line-up.
No stranger to the Afropunk festival, legendary model and artist Grace Jones has been chosen to headline the London leg of the event. Having performed at the Afropunk festival last year [2015] in Brooklyn, the performer will now perform along with SZA, Lady Leshurr, Ho99or, Laura Mvula and more on the UK stage.
Prompting the changes in the line-up, M.I.A.’s previous comments on American media in regards to #BlackLivesMatter grabbed the attention of the festival’s coordinators and moved them enough to take her off as headliner. Deeming the arrangement as no longer a fit, it looks like concert-goers will be benefiting from the change.
