Plot. Twist.

Today has been a disaster for Donald Sterling and the Los Angeles Clippers organization, and its simply getting weirder. In case you haven’t heard anything about the racist comments Sterling made to his girlfriend, or the myriad of reactions that followed TMZ’s report of the incident, here’s what happened in a nutshell. Sterling, owner of the Clippers, was recorded having roughly a ten minute argument with his Black & Hispanic girlfriend about a picture that she posted to her Instagram account with Magic Johnson. Sterling was adamant about his girlfriend abstaining from publicly admiring or acknowledging black people, and went on to request that she never bring Johnson to the arena, or any other black people for that matter.

In an unforeseen and, quite frankly, incredulous plot twist, it appears the NAACP–the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People–will be honoring Sterling at a dinner in Los Angeles on May 15th. The irony is, he’s been honored before, in 2009, despite having a checkered past concerning his views and dealings with people of other races, but none of the previous blemishes have been as damning or as blatant as this one.
