Young Thug threw the world for a bit of a loop this week when he decided to change the title of his new mixtape from Slime Season 3 to I’m Up, two days prior to its release, referencing Kanye West‘s indecisiveness regarding the potential titles, SWISH, WAVES and So Help Me God in the process. As it turns out, however, Thugger still plans to drop Slime Season 3 after all, and may even have a couple more surprises up his sleeve.
It’s being reported that the project, expected to arrive perhaps as early as next week, will also feature appearances by Drake, and Yeezy himself. Pigeons & Planes points out that several fans who witnessed Thugger’s Periscope session on Friday took to Twitter at around 9:30pm EST to share their excitement over hearing the good news, although actual footage of these statements has yet to surface online.
This news may not be all that far-fetched however, considering the Atlanta rapper not only has ties to Drake through Birdman, but also revealed during an interview with Power 105.1’s Angie Martinez recently that he and Kanye have recorded a whopping 40 different songs together – an announcement that came as no surprise to Lyor Cohen, co-founder of 300 Entertainment, the label to which Thug is currently signed, who happened to be sitting right beside him as he made the claim.
Meanwhile, as the debate continues as to which of the two potential collaborators owns the bigger pool, Kanye’s seventh solo album – whatever he ends up officially naming it – is set to arrive next Friday, February 11, while Drizzy’s new single, “Summer Sixteen,” will have to tide us over until sometime in April, when he plans to finally release Views From the 6.
