20. “Number One”
Pharrell
In My Mind
Star Trak/Interscope
Pharrell’s debut and only solo album, In My Mind, wasn’t appreciated nearly as much at the time of its release as it is now, widely regarded as one of the overlooked classics of the last decade. Kanye West must’ve known this, and didn’t want to turn in a lemon for his contribution, so he did what he usually does, and kills it. With a swift agenda, West didn’t miss a step, flying through clever Fresh Prince Of Bel-Air references and the “my space/Myspace” line. The best part of this verse, is the song wouldn’t be nearly as much fun without it. And so the top twenty begins.
