Pusha T’s debut album, My Name Is My Name, is already one of the year’s better rap albums, but shortly before that, he prepped us with Wrath Of Caine. Product wise, Wrath Of Caine can’t hold a candle to Pusha’s debut, which is one of the main factors keeping this project out of the top 10–Pusha is literally competing with himself in this instance. Still, “Blocka”, the lead single from WOC is a perfect snapshot of exactly why this mixtape still deserves a top 15 spot despite being overshadowed by the full-length LP. The flows are catastrophic, the bars are vicious, but flow as if he were approaching an R&B feature. The production isn’t mind-blowing–this is a major contrast to MNIMN–but it complements P’s bars seamlessly, rather than it being the other way around.
