Top Dawg Entertainment grabbed everyone’s interest, when they announced their plan to release six albums in 2014. They have already started their onslaught with Isaiah Rashad’s Cilvia Demo album dropping in January; however, people are really looking forward to their marquee lineup’s projects. Ab-Soul has always been the “Top Dawg Underdog”, but after his 2012 critically acclaimed full length, Control System, his stock has risen considerably. Nonetheless, he doesn’t have as big of a fan base as both Schoolboy Q and Kendrick Lamar. In the next eleven months, Ab has to move away from the shadow of his two peers, and take hold of the mantel set before him that lyricist of the past have used to gain stardom. We hope he does, because beneath all of conspiracy theories and copious weed smoke, he has something serious to say.
