Let’s be honest, Wale ended the year as badly as a rapper could–his Complex rant was memed to death and left him looking more like a salty star than an amazing lyricist. However, The Gifted was one of last year’s most slept on albums; every song was filled intricate lyricism that isn’t normally seen in the game. Since his rant though, all of the responsibility for his success or failure in the future falls squarely on his shoulders. He needs to show that he is more than just talk, and he can break from the underground into the mainstream without heavy cosigns. 2014 is his make or break it year.
