Rapper, producer and DJ, DJ Cocoa Chanelle does it all from radio to barrier breaking. She is most commonly known for being a radio personality and DJ on New York’s HOT 97 and Kiss FM. What many people do not know, is that she was the first DJ ever employed by BET on their teen talk show Teen Summit. A female. The first DJ on BET. That is powerful and inspiring beyond belief. Not that she is a woman accomplishing this feat, but that she is a woman accomplishing this feat in a male-dominated genre. Her awards range from being one of VIBE’s top 17 DJ’s in the US to being honored by BET during Black History Month. Chanelle is still heavy in the game, DJing and running her own production company, 5th House Entertainment. Salute.
