Unless you’ve been living under a rock—which, for the record, could be to your benefit—you’ve seen the mayhem a certain mister Kanye West caused with one tweet (which is the norm for him at this point).

We assume he merely meant to spark controversy and conversation, which is very important in the ever-changing landscape of hip-hop and pop culture, but social media certainly followed his lead and opened the debate.

Before we begin to have the greatest verse in rap history conversation—which would literally last 100 years—let’s focus on Kanye himself. For him to conclude the second verse of “New Slaves” is the best rap verse of all time, he would have no choice but to admit that it’s also his best verse ever.

We chose to actually do the research on this. So, before claiming “New Slaves” as the greatest rap verse ever, Kanye probably should’ve read this list. Forty verses. From 1996 to 2013.

Where does “Run This Town” or “Brand New” fall? Does “New Slaves” even make the cut?
