Chicago spitkicker Rhymefest never made the splash most thought he would make on the national rap scene, despite his critically acclaimed debut album, Blue Collar, featuring contributions from Kanye West, Q-Tip, and Just Blaze among others. This specific Kanye West contribution featured one of Ye’s first notorious quotables, “Ralph Lauren was boring before I wore ‘em,” and the linking up of two of Chicago’s most talented artists made “Brand New” an instant classic.
