Kris Kasanova is boom-bap rap at its finest, but it isn’t the only element he interpolates. The Red Hook native stretches out and flexes on 24K, allowing southern 808’s and alternative soul vibes to infiltrate his bruising verses, and they work well together. The live orchestration on his theme song, “Kasanova” is nowhere to be found on a cut like “Donski”, which finds the Homeskool rapper doing his best Sean Price impression, yet they both fit glove-in-hand on the hefty tracklist (Dj Dahi, SZA, World’s Fair, Flatbush Zombies, Canei Finch, Skeme) and as usual, Kasanova holds court like a pro.
